灵空山

       灵空山在山西省版图的中南边，原名“九顶山”，因佛教活动而更名“灵空山”。这里的森林覆盖率达到99%以上，是生态保存较好的地方。当旅游与环保发生矛盾冲突的时候，这里可谓是“一方净土”。热爱旅游的人不妨在炎炎夏日走进灵空山，感受这里的清凉、静谧、别致、美轮美奂。 灵空山地处沁源西北部五龙川乡，距县城约40公里。海拔高度在1600-1850米之间，最高山峰为海拔1953米。山岩地质为寒武纪石灰岩，由于构造运动强烈，地壳发生变异，大面积基岩裸露，沟谷切割较深。山中心三条沟壑交汇，形成一处奇险的深谷。山岩之上为第四纪老黄土覆盖，适宜植物生长且雨量充足，所以林木郁郁葱葱，山花野草遍地。山中岩洞较多，险峰竞秀，幽静奇特。
       由于灵空山地处沁源县境西部高寒山区，与县内其他地方气候颇有差异。夏季凉爽，最高气温在25摄氏度左右，冬季寒冷时间较长，但属中心地带的北山庄和圣寿寺背风向阳，最低气温在零下20摄氏度左右。每年的4-10月份，灵空山的平均气温在17摄氏度左右，是适宜游览的季节。灵空山风景区主要风景线有三条：风洞沟、将军墓沟、草沟。风洞沟是从仙桥开始自北向东南延伸的一条大约5公里的深谷，山崖如鬼斧神工削劈。沟中怪石嶙峋，跌宕错落，有的如野牛狂奔、卧虎啸月，也有的如龟鳖惊惧，缩脖贴地。
       灵空山名胜古称十景，即东钟楼、十八盘、甘露泉、茅庵、净身窑、五龙池、盖海洞、舍身崖、须眉山、仙峦桥，皆有碑文记叙，也有诗词咏叹。除十景以外，灵空山还有许多引人入胜、令人惊叹的古迹胜景、奇松名木以及神奇洞穴。
       一路行进，只见东西两边峰峦叠嶂，危崖峭壁扑面而来，有山塔崖、叠翠峰、前后寨门、龙胆、龙尾、望壁回头等胜景。从第一川望圣寿寺由西向东而来的沟叫草沟，全长约六七公里，沿途林木茂盛，山花缀锦，峰回路转，柳暗花明，真乃一步一景，景景宜人。圣寿寺东北，是由仙桥向五龙川而去的将军墓沟，沟中溪流缓缓，涓涓有声，时有数丈落差之地，积水成潭，倒映翠屏倩影。
       五颗蟠桃、龙母与神虎、仙桥的传说、将军墓的来历、灵空石松之谜……几乎灵空山的每一个景点都有一个动人的传说。这些传说在人们尽享灵空美景的同时，也让人对灵空山多了想象和神往。灵空山不仅是纳凉避暑的胜地，还有着很多的动人传说，让去到那里的人充满遐想。圣寿寺是灵空山的核心。相传，宋开宝二年太祖赵匡胤不顾众臣劝阻趁火打劫，在北汉主睿宗刘钓死后北汉皇室悲怆之际，统兵围攻。不料辽国耶律屋质、耶律斜轸援救北汉，宋军疾疫流行，兵攻失败，仓皇败退。辽兵、汉兵乘胜追击，赵等部众最后藏于“四十里不见天的灵空山深山密林之中”。辽军急于求胜四处放火，欲将宋太祖等烧葬于灵空山后，与汉军联手大举灭宋。十万火急之时，宋太祖躲入山中的一座禅院。瞬间，雷鸣电闪，滂沱大雨倾盆而降。宋军由此军威大振、精神百倍，一鼓作气杀出重围，化险为夷。宋太祖回朝后，遂拨资重建禅院、再塑金身。灵空山禅院一时香火鼎盛，享誉四方。宋太祖还御笔赐额“圣寿寺”。
